About
holbein.gallery shows every surviving work by Hans Holbein the Younger in one place: 544 works from 57 collections so far. It is an independent project, not affiliated with any museum.
Paintings, miniatures, drawings and designs are included when the holding collection or the literature gives them to Holbein, including works shared with his workshop or attributed to him with some doubt, which are marked as such. Prints are the woodcuts cut from his designs. Copies and works by followers are left out.
Photographs and reuse
Holbein’s works are in the public domain, and so are most faithful photographs of them. Some photographers ask for credit or use a Creative Commons licence, so each work’s page names its photograph’s source and licence. Records come from Wikidata and the holding museums, checked by hand.
